CTRA Board of Directors Update April/May 2021:
What busy months April and May have been! The CTRA Board of Directors met on April 21 and as you can well imagine the agenda was packed full of final planning for the (then) upcoming Virtual conference. Final details were confirmed and a review of all the behind the scenes responsibilities filled the discussion and the results certainly justified the hours and hours and hours of time board members and staff spent ensuring that every detail was well planned for a smooth rollout! Of course the conference was only a portion of the agenda. The board also had discussion about fantastic new partnership opportunities that will provide membership with education benefits and the exciting new Canadian Therapeutic Recreation Journal.
May brought with it the first Virtual CTRA Conference…wow!! What a successful event! Over 300 learners joined into the many sessions and socials earning CEU credits, making new connections and emphasizing how strong we can be when we are “in this together”. A reminder that you can still go to the CTRA website and continue to take advantage of the online learning opportunities through this link… CTRA Conference May 12-14, 2021 – CTRA – Canadian Therapeutic Recreation Association (canadian-tr.org).
A huge shout out to members of the CTRA board and the CTRA staff who worked endless hours to make this virtual conference a success…delegate evaluations indicate that the time was well spent!
Less than a week after the conference the new 2021-2022 board once again ‘clicked on join’ and were present for the May Board of Directors meeting. The Canadian Therapeutic Recreation Journal, initial discussions about professional lobbying for Therapeutic Recreation, a conference debrief and content for the CTRA Social Media were topics for discussion this month. The new board members have hit the ground running and are already a part of the projects the CTRA board has undertaken.
A final thank you…to the outgoing members of the CTRA Board who dedicated years of their time…Chris Richard, Rebecca Genoe and Anne-Marie Sullivan have made such a difference in the profession of Therapeutic Recreation. We thank you for all of your efforts and look forward to your continued contributions for years to come.
